Safran Helicopter Engines powers 100% of the helicopters produced by HAL, in particular the Dhruv, LCH and LUH helicopters with the Ardiden 1/Shakti engine.

In 2024, Safran Helicopter Engines and HAL have created SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt. Ltd. This joint venture is dedicated to the design, development, production, sales and support of new generation helicopter engines in India. It marks a significant milestone in India's aerospace and defense sector, aiming to enhance the nation's Aatmanirbharta in helicopter engine technology.
