Nelson, Sheetmetal apprentice
Human resources
A sheetmetal’s job is to adjust, shape and assemble the metal parts which make up an aeroplane engine, made of titanium, Inconel or stainless steel. What I like about being a boilermaker is seeing a component take shape, the precision it requires, and the fact that you’re working directly with the materials. If you enjoy working with your hands, don’t be afraid to try metalwork because it’s a sector with a bright future which needs more skilled workers.
