Ensuring the collective security of citizens is both a right and an objective, as well as one of the basic values in today's society. Safran supplies state-of-the-art solutions to police forces and other authorities to protect people, their assets and institutions.

Building on our position as the world leader in biometric identity solutions, Safran is the favored partner of many government agencies worldwide. For multibiometric data recognition and comparisons, Safran deploys advanced digital fingerprint identification systems, such as the ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System). These technologies can be used not only on fingerprints and palm prints, but also for iris and facial recognition.

Another major global concern these days is the ability to detect explosives, narcotics and nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) threats. Safran therefore offers a range of systems that address this requirement, drawing on our unrivaled expertise in systems that detect hazardous and illicit products: computed tomography (reconstructing an object in 3D based on measurements in layers); Raman spectroscopy (studying the spectrum of physical phenomena); ITMS™ (ion trap mass spectrometer) for trace detection; X-rays; X-ray diffraction (to study the diffraction of light or sound waves around an obstacle).

More than 27,000 explosives and narcotics trace detection systems by Safran deployed

La diffraction des rayons X (XRD) est l’une des technologies les plus efficaces actuellement pour la détection d’explosifs.

Safran's systems are also deployed in the field, by law enforcement agencies and emergency services. They are used to carry out high-risk missions, such as bomb disposal, and the identification and handling of dangerous or unknown substances.

More than 27,000 explosives and narcotics trace detection systems by Safran are now deployed, which means we make a major contribution to global security.

Safran deploys automated border control solutions and explosives and narcotics detection systems in airports, train stations, ports, and other key transport venues. For example, Safran offers a family of automatic (doors or e-gates) and semi-automatic (turnstiles) border control systems for passengers, which compare the traveler's biometric data with the information on new biometric travel documents. Fast and reliable, these solutions bolster security at borders while also speeding up the required checks and facilitating passenger throughput

The public safety solutions developed by Safran also include automated traffic violation control systems, designed to enforce rules of the road and guarantee road safety. Today, more than 3,000 Safran road safety systems are deployed worldwide.

Safran Identity & Security: Safran offers unrivaled expertise in multibiometric identification systems and detection systems. The company designs, produces and deploys systems and equipment throughout the world to protect people in public spaces.
