The EVB8 is a solenoid bi-stable valve designed to operate with different fluids, including cryogenic propellants. It ensures the function of bearing chill down valves for the turbo-pump of the Vinci engine and manage the propellant for the stage on the Ariane 6 launcher.
The engine EV box is made of 6 normally closed electro-valves providing a gas flow to the user when activated by an electrical command. It is a power-amplified device, composed of a power stage driven by a pilot stage, actuated by a redundant electrical solenoid.
The FLPP Hydrogen Chamber Valve (HCV) is an electrical poppet valve designed to work with gaseous hydrogen and driven by a brushless geared electrical motor. It has been successfully tested on the ETID engine demonstrator.
The FLPP Purge Valve is a propellant assisted solenoid bi-stable valve designed to operate with different fluids, including cryogenic propellants.
The Thrust Control Valve (TCV) is an electrically controlled regulation valve.
The Helium Filling Valve (VRE) is part of the liquid He subsystem (SSHeL) of Ariane 5 and Ariane 6 launchers. The main function of the VRE is to open on demand to allow a refill of the Helium tank.
The Helium Loading Plate composed of two electro-valves and two filters is positioned between the high-pressure helium vessels and the pressure regulator of the Ariane 6 upper stage.
The PPS®1350 Hall Effet plasma thruster draws on Safran Spacecraft Propulsion’ long experience with electric propulsion. It is designed for orbital transfer, stationkeeping and deorbiting satellites and other spacecraft. In particular, the PPS 1350 was the primary engine on ESA’s lunar probe, Smart-1, launched in 2003 by an Ariane 5 rocket. This mission was completed in September 2006.
The PPS®5000, produced by Safran Spacecraft Propulsion, is a Hall Effect Thruster purposely designed for “all-electric” satellites. It can operate in high-thrust or high specific impulse mode, and offers an operating lifespan of about 20,000 hours. This means it can handle orbital positioning and stationkeeping duties for a wide range of telecom and navigation satellites, as well as exploration spacecraft. The PPS®5000 was fully qualified in 2021.
The latest member of Safran Spacecraft Propulsion' Hall Effect plasma Thrusters, the PPS®X00 was designed to address the specific requirements inherent in the “New Space” market environment. With a lifespan exceeding 5,000 hours and very high specific impulse, the PPS®X00 is an extremely versatile thruster, making it ideal for all types of applications in its core market: low Earth orbit (LEO).
This valve operates as propellant chamber valve for the Prometheus engine, on both oxygen and methane sides. This ball valve allows the propellant flow regulation thanks to its motorized geared electrical actuator as well as the propellant tightness in closed position.
This box is made of 3 normally closed direct drive electro-valves providing a nitrogen gas flow when activated by an electrical command. The baseplate integrates three identical, two-ways direct drive EVs, consisting in three screwed mono-stable solenoid actuators.
The Safety relief valve (SSEI), part of the liquid He subsystem (SSHeL), main function is to ensure the quick depressurization of the Helium liquid tank in case of unexpected overpressure and in the nominal case, ensure the tightness of Helium tank.
The upper stage EV box is made of 6 normally closed electro-valves providing a gas flow to the user when activated by an electrical command. It is a power-amplified device, composed of a power stage driven by a pilot stage, actuated by a redundant electrical solenoid.
The Hydrogen Chamber Valve is integrated into the Vinci engine of the Ariane 6 upper stage. This normally closed pneumatic poppet valve is located upstream from the combustion chamber and its purpose is to control the gaseous hydrogen supply to the engine combustion chamber.
The Oxygen Chamber Valve (VCO) is a bi-stable pneumatic ball valve, located upstream from the combustion chamber. Its purpose is to control the liquid oxygen supply to the engine combustion chamber.
The Purge Valve (PV) allows the engine’s chill down and manage the engine transients. It can open under high pressure.
The Hot Gas Valve (VGC2) is a pneumatically actuated throttling valve on the Ariane 5 Vulcain 2 cryogenic engine. It is located downstream of the gas generator.
The Hot Gas Valve (VGC 2.1) is an electrically actuated throttling valve on the Ariane 6 Vulcain 2.1 cryogenic engine, located downstream of the gas generator. Its position is fixed during flight.
The Chamber Valve (VC) is part of the Ariane 5 and 6 Vulcain cryogenic engine. The VC provides very low propellant leakage tightness under cryogenic conditions and at the same time a very low pressure drop in open position.
The Purge Valve (PV) is a normally open pneumatic poppet valve. It allows the engine’s chill down and manages the engine transients. Part of the Vulcain cryogenic engine, the PV remain closed at high propellant pressure even in case of a loss of the helium command pressure.
