The Hot Gas Valve (VGC2) is a pneumatically actuated throttling valve on the Ariane 5 Vulcain 2 cryogenic engine. It is located downstream of the gas generator.

Main function

The Hot Gas Valve (VGC2) is a pneumatically actuated throttling valve. Its main function is to provide an adjustable head loss on the Oxygen turbine inlet line which allows adjusting the engine fuel/oxidizer mixture ratio during the engine firing.
