Telemetry data is precious

There is nothing more precious than your launcher telemetry data during the first flight, and even later, during serial operation. Losing the telemetry data link with your launcher, even for few seconds... makes you fear for the worst until the link is finally established back to normal... when you can finally see all the statuses switching back to green on the screen.

What is worse, is when the link is lost every flight as part of the nominal operation of the launcher. This is due to standard terrestrial telemetry relying on a network of ground stations along the trajectory. Your data is only received when the launcher is visible from an existing ground station. But ground stations cannot be installed everywhere on Earth : not in oceans, and difficultly, or costly in the north pole and in Antartica.

If a failure happens during an uncovered part of the trajectory, the data may never be received by any ground station, making it almost impossible to investigate what happened during the launch.

This will never happen with a Satellite-based telemetry link. A continuous coverage of the trajectory is ensured thanks to geostationary satellites, providing visibility even over polar areas. You can follow your launch, quietly siting at your operator desk, watching at continuous, stable and reliable green status, until the separation of the payload and the full success of the mission.

This is possible thanks to satellite-based telemetry.
