The PCB design process is very important. All manufactured PCBs must pass two important tests: In-Circuit Tests (ICT) and Functional In-Circuit (FCT) before leaving the factory. The ICT allows us to control the quality of the electronic components and parts for the related PCB, but we cannot determine if the entire circuit is working properly.
This is where the FCT Test comes into play. Indeed, it will allow testing the PCB with integrated components (PCBA) by simulating the functions of the finished product and testing whether these functions are implemented properly.
PCBA Tester Capabilities
The system is providing the FCT software (NI Test Stand based Test system software) from Safran Data Systems India, which will perform various Functionality tests and check the proper functionality of the PCBA & also ensure the quality of the product (DUT).
Some of the key FCT Test are as follows:
- Power ON Test: Voltage Measurement, Current Consumption
- RF Functional Test (in case of RF PCB component): Frequency Response, RF Characteristic Test
- Short Circuit Test
- Continuity / Insulation Resistance Test
- Software Version / Serial Number / Firmware (EEPROM) Version Check
