Proven reliability

A wide range of fuel distribution systems and equipment

Safran Aerosystems fuel distribution solutions (APU fuel pumps, booster pumps, feed pumps and transfer pumps) are installed on numerous recent commercial, regional, business and military aircraft and helicopter programs. They have accumulated nearly 11 billion flight hours on various platforms.

Integrated fuel systems

Safran Aerosystems can develop and certify complete fuel systems (ATA 28 & ATA 47) by performing system optimization, interface definition and system integration in the laboratory and through ground and in-flight tests.

Fuel distribution System

Integrated electronic control unit

Safran Aerosystems fuel distribution equipment includes smart functions, such as current limitation and pump speed rotation regulation. These functions enable optimization of the overall performance of the fuel system and also compensation of the electrical power supply network range (frequency, voltage). In accordance with the latest safety requirements, the electronic control units are located outside the fuel tank in a hermetically sealed enclosure. They integrate thermal protection and internal wiring protection.

Biofuel - Distrbution system

Biofuel-compatible systems

Safran Aerosystems fuel distribution systems and equipment have demonstrated their compatibility with sustainable fuels. Their operation has been validated using only biofuels. Tests have already been conducted with two types of biofuel.

Fuel distribution system - Test rig

Extensive internal testing capabilities

Safran Aerosystems fuel distribution systems and equipment are tested during development on small-scale test rigs to assess their performance, in particular for the engine feed, fuel transfer and refueling sub-system functions. These tests are used to optimize the location of equipment inside the tank and minimize the amount of unusable fuel. They also check the dynamic effect of fuel transfer between tanks and fuel tank venting during aircraft maneuvers. Finally, the robustness of the equipment is validated under all aircraft operating conditions using a high fuel flow test rig and environmental test chambers.

Fuel distribution system

A complete range of fuel pumps

Safran Aerosystems fuel pumps offer all fuel sub-system functions, including engine/APU feed, fuel transfer, fuel draining, jettison and aerial refueling. They can provide fuel flow rates ranging from 150 to 100,000 PPH. Several pump technologies are available: centrifugal or self-priming pumps, with a speed/pressure regulation function. Pump integration can be carried out with or without canisters and with or without check valves at pump inlets and outlets. All types of electrical networks can be managed for pump power supply: DC or AC with fixed frequency or variable frequency. Finally, Safran Aerosystems fuel pumps are compatible with all types of motors: induction, hydraulic, brushed and brushless motors.
