More than 60% of the C919 LEAP-1C nacelle is composed of composite material.
The C919 LEAP-1C nacelle enables a 50% reduction in engine noise.
The O-Duct: an innovative thrust reverser.
The COMAC C919’s Integrated Propulsion System (IPS®) is composed of the nacelle and the C919 engine: it optimizes the interface between the pylon, the nacelle and the engine, generating mass reduction and increasing performance.
Innovative technologies on board our nacelles
The innovative O-Duct thrust reverser
It is composed of a single “O” shaped composite part (O-Duct), which replaces the traditional two-door “D” configuration. The new “O” design improves the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft and its fuel consumption (-0.5%, i.e. 300kg per flight) by increasing the efficiency of the thrust reverser.
Thrust reverser electric actuation system
The deployment of the O-Duct is activated by the Electrical Thrust Reverser Actuation System (ETRAS), which replaces the heavier hydraulic systems traditionally used on thrust reversers.
ETRAS offers the following benefits: simplified design, mass reduction, simplified maintenance, the elimination of corrosive hydraulic liquids.
Support and Services
24/7 after sale support
C919 customers benefit from proactive 24/7 after-sales support and a full range of bespoke services for their in-service nacelles. Using standard tooling to open the O-Duct thrust reverser, access to the engine is optimized. As it is attached to the pylon, it can be replaced directly under the wing, like any LRU (Line Replaceable Unit), and can therefore be rapidly reinstated for service, avoiding the need to change the inversion system (TRAS).
