Job description

SEDA USA is looking for a Business Unit Controller for the cockpit controls. The turnover of the Business Unit accounts for $40m with 150 employees dedicated to manufacturing and assembly.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the CFO, the Business Unit Controller position is a dynamic manager role with responsibility for managing the financial activities of the Costa Mesa facility. Responsibilities include ensuring integrity of financial statements, adequate internal controls, reporting, forecasting, planning and continuous improvement in financial and management reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Participates as a key business partner to plant management, supports the CFO and local site management team.
 Manages the financial activities and functions of the Finance team in accordance with Corporate, Operational and Group procedures.
 Drives financial and administrative process and system improvements to deliver world class business and decision making support processes, including working with Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics US executive team operations to converge on best in class consistent processes.
 Responsible for ensuring an adequate internal control environment including supervision and preparation of periodic balance sheet reviews including intercompany balance integrity.
 Manage close in a timely manner, forecast and planning
 Prepares the business's annual budget and 4 year business plan and oversees financial reports from accounting teams in order to confirm precise reviews of the business's current and projected financial position
 Supports requirements for Internal Control, Internal Audit, External and Tax auditors, ISO, ... Familiar with Corporate and audit concepts
 Leads local team(s) in identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk.
 Liaises with key stakeholders including external consultants as required. Works with Safran Electronics & Defense (SED France) and Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics (USA) Finance teams to support and coordinate plant activities and requirements with group operations.
 Provides business performance measurement analytical capabilities as required to the General Manager, the plant management and other stakeholders on an ongoing basis and supports ad hoc requests.
 Owes sound analytical skills to interpret and relate financial data.
 Supports ad hoc projects including strategic execution and business development activities as required.
 Show “Hands-on” attitude and capacity to dig into details but also to step back and convey key messages to Management
 Prove visibility within the organization
 Strongly support mgt for decision making with detailed business cases, improvement action plan supported with impact calculation.
 Develops the cost analysis function for manufacturing activities to help drive cost reduction and process improvement.

Job requirements

 Prepares and manages the daily production meeting.
 Ensures controls and procedures are in place to ensure proper level of internal control.
 Performs testing and evaluations of the processes according to the SAFRAN internal control process .
 Handles and improves accounting processes and activities: monthly closing, revenue and margin tracking, inventory and work in progress analysis, account receivables and account payables analysis.
 Supports as needed the production of various reports and cost analysis: daily sales & backlog, monthly reports, monthly Consolidation report, quarterly SAFRAN consolidation.
 Detailed oriented with a demonstrated drive on implementing SAFRAN policies.
 Build a team spirit, promote team work within the organization
 Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS accounting

Education / Experience:
 Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
 Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience including experience in manufacturing environment
 Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
 This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. green card holder), political asylee or refugee

Position Criteria:
 Knowledge of ERP system – SAP experience is a plus.
 Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
 Thorough attention to detail and accuracy.
 Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles
 Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Exhibits clear and concise written and verbal communication.
 Capacity to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with multiple concurrent assignments.
 Works and communicates effectively at all organizational levels and across functional areas.
