Wow Air takes delivery of first CFM LEAP-1A-powered A321NEO

• Second LEAP-powered aircraft to enter fleet

LE BOURGET, France — 21 June 2017 — Iceland-based WOW air today took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines.  The aircraft is leased from Air Lease Corporation.

This is the second LEAP-powered airplane to enter the airline’s fleet.  WOW air took delivery of its first A320neo back in April.  On May 3, it become the world’s first airline to operate LEAP-1A-powered A320neo aircraft on transatlantic flights, traveling from Reykjavik to Montreal, Canada.  The airline, which began commercial service in 2011, also operates a fleet of seven CFM56-5B-powered A320 family aircraft.

“Whenever you are impressed by something, or someone, happily surprised, charmed, or amazed, you simply say ’wow’,” said Gaël Méheust, president and CEO of CFM International.  “On behalf of the women and men of CFM, thank you, Skúli Mogensen, for giving us the opportunity to say WOW many times over the past five years.  It has been a real privilege being a part of your incredible success story.”
