Vietnam Airlines Partners with Safran for Next-Generation Cassiopée Alpha Solution
Business
Paris, Monday 16th June 2025,
On the occasion of the Vietnam-France Business Forum held this Wednesday, June 11, in the presence of Mr. Pham Minh Chính, Prime Minister of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines and Safran Electronics & Defense announced a Memorandum of Understanding for the deployment of the Cassiopée Alpha solution, dedicated to the decoding and analysis of flight data for the period 2026-2030.
This agreement marks a new milestone in the longstanding collaboration between the two partners. Designed as an all-in-one platform, Cassiopée Alpha meets the needs of all airline departments: flight safety, flight operations, maintenance, and data science. It will enable Vietnam Airlines to comply with current safety regulations for both its current and future fleets, while providing innovative tools to further enhance operational safety and fleet efficiency.
Available in both SaaS and on-premises deployments, Cassiopée Alpha is fully customizable to address the specific needs of any airline. With its modular, open, and flexible design, this unrivalled solution can be seamlessly integrated into any digital ecosystem.
The "Pilot in the Loop" module will provide Vietnam Airlines crews with the ability to conduct self-debriefings using intuitive visualization and analysis tools, thus facilitating event understanding and promoting feedback. The flight safety and data analysis teams will benefit from the collection of contextualized information, further strengthening risk prevention.
The "Tech Profile" module, for its part, will enable Vietnam Airlines to optimize both predictive and reactive maintenance through advanced analysis of system integrity and aircraft airworthiness.
Cassiopée Alpha is also the reference platform for the SFCO2 fuel efficiency optimization service, developed by Safran Aircraft Engines and already deployed by Vietnam Airlines, thus actively contributing to the reduction of the airline’s carbon footprint and the optimization of its operational costs.
Le Duc Canh, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines said: “This agreement marks an important step forward in our ongoing digital transformation journey. The deployment of Cassiopée Alpha reflects our strong commitment to operational excellence, safety enhancement, and sustainable development. By integrating advanced data analytics and predictive maintenance capabilities, the solution will not only help us meet the highest international safety standards but also optimize fleet performance and reduce environmental impact. We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Safran Electronics & Defense, and we believe this collaboration will further strengthen Vietnam Airlines’ ability to lead with innovation and responsibility in the global aviation landscape.”
Valentin Safir, Executive Vice-President Avionics at Safran Electronics & Defense emphasizes, “We are proud to strengthen our long-standing partnership with Vietnam Airlines through the deployment of the Cassiopée Alpha solution. This new step demonstrates our commitment to offering innovative solutions in support of passenger safety, operational efficiency, and environmental transition. This initiative also supports Vietnam’s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and enhances the passenger experience through high-quality, eco-conscious travel.”
The upcoming contract signing will replace the historical Cassiopée AGS software, which has been used by Vietnam Airlines for flight data monitoring and maintenance analysis for the past 20 years.
