Signing a Manifesto for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace: More than a hundred companies are involved
This mission ended today at the headquarters of the Les Echos Le Parisien Group, with the historic signing of a charter of operational commitments by more than a hundred companies. This action makes it possible to achieve a strong ambition around a proactive approach in favor of the employment of people with disabilities.
Among the objectives of this approach are, as a priority, to engage companies in various structural areas that promote the professional integration of people with disabilities: develop and perpetuate the link between schools and companies, enable young people, through internships and apprenticeships, to specify their career plans, raise awareness of disability among employees, develop a managerial culture of diversity, engage in responsible purchasing and create bridges with work reintegration facilities (ESATs) and adapted enterprises.
The general mobilization of companies in favor of the employment of disabled people is a priority. The employment of people with disabilities should no longer be considered as the sole responsibility of specialists. While more than 500,000 people with disabilities are unemployed, the situation forces all stakeholders to take a leap forward: associations, the State, public employment players, local authorities, companies, social partners, players in the adapted sector and the medico-social sector in an unprecedented commitment process.
The 10 commitments of the signatories:
- To play host to disabled students in our companies, from the 9th grade onwards, to enable them to clearly imagine a professional future and to orient their studies.
- To give disabled pupils and students access to the business world, in particular through apprenticeships, work-study programs and internships.
- To provide access to the recruitment interview for any application from people with disabilities who have the profile and skills for all available positions.
- To implement internal awareness-raising actions to combat stereotypes and discrimination against people with disabilities.
- To involve all new employees in the challenges of disability in the workplace during their welcome and integration process.
- To optimize access to business tools, particularly digital tools, for people with disabilities.
- To integrate "digital accessibility" into the design of information system master plans and the development of digital solutions.
- To develop economic commitments with Adapted Enterprises, work reintegration facilities (ESATs) and Self-employed Disabled Workers in order to entrust them with orders and subcontracting assignments that meet our quality requirements.
- To develop gateways with adapted enterprises and work reintegration facilities (ESATs) to enable the integration of people with disabilities in all companies.
- To integrate social criteria relating to disability and inclusion in calls for tenders and the prerequisites for subscribing to them, in order to engage all our partners in this inclusive approach.

For Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State for People with Disabilities: “The challenge of integrating people with disabilities into the workforce and keeping them in employment can only be achieved with companies. That is why I have entrusted Jean-Pierre Letartre and Christian Sanchez with the mission of mobilizing companies around concrete commitments that are accessible to all, regardless of their size. Hiring a person with a disability means above all hiring a skill and developing opportunities in terms of innovation and work collectives. Companies that have taken the plunge are pleased with this. In addition, it is a question of carrying a common societal project, which represents a strong marker of the social and economic responsibility of organizations.”
Jean-Pierre Letartre, Chairman of Entreprises et Cités, and former Chairman of EY adds: “Welcoming different people into the company means bringing new perspectives, imposing a review of judgments and points of view that are sometimes clumsily rooted in people's minds, developing new capacities for innovation, listening to all the weak signals that, once detected and resolved, can foster the development of "living together" within the company, in order to continue growing." Because I am convinced that it is only by combining our differences, talents and skills together that we can meet the transformational challenges imposed by the digital revolutions that are now facing the entire company, any organization.”
Christian Sanchez, Social Counselor for LVMH, explains: “The purpose of this manifesto is to demonstrate the commitment of companies to the integration of people with disabilities into economic life. It is also to encourage as many of them as possible to develop, on their own initiative and in convergence with the public authorities, significant actions that promote employment, with the inventiveness, creativity and particular resources that characterize them.”
Pierre Louette, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Les Echos, Le Parisien Group adds: “The Group's engagement strategy is an essential part of our development plan. Our leitmotiv is to support, to be a source of ideas and to encourage the emergence of a more sustainable society model and a definitely more sustainable economy. This is an ambitious challenge, I agree. The historic signature of this Manifesto is strong proof of our ambitions.”
Aziliz De Veyrinas, Deputy Director of Les Echos Le Parisien Evénements concludes: “We are very proud to have supported this mission with Christian Sanchez and Jean-Pierre Letartre, on behalf of the Government. We are all aware that a new mindset is needed to face today's major challenges and positively transform society and the business world. The Group and the events division for which I am responsible are part of this drive to support companies in their efforts to promote social innovation.”
