Safran’s site in Florange celebrates its 40th anniversary

Florange, France, 21 November 2019

The Safran Nacelles site in Florange celebrated its 40th anniversary today, with all its staff and with Cédric Goubet, Safran Nacelles CEO, and Vincent Bourguet, Site Integration Manager.

This site designs and manufactures metal and composite aerostructure parts for airplanes and helicopters and provides aftermarket support.

In 1979, the predecessor of Safran Nacelles created a subsidiary, Société Lorraine de Construction Aéronautique (SLCA), to handle assembly of aircraft units. Two years later, SLCA had a 5,000-m2 extension built, in order to keep up with its strong growth. This marked the start of composites activities in Florange. Over the years, the company became more specialized and developed partnerships with the great names of the aircraft industry: Airbus, Eurocopter and Embraer. In 2005, its scope was expanded, and it offered its customers a full range of services, from design to aftermarket support. In 2016, SLCA changed its name and became Safran Systems Aerostructures. Then in 2019, it joined Safran Nacelles as a production site for that company.

The past 40 years have been filled with great learning and progress for the Florange site. We’ve gone from a very local workshop to a production site with international customers. We have developed our skills thanks to the close ties we have with several training centers in the region and the commitment of all company employees. I’m proud of the journey we’ve made and confident about the future,” said Vincent Bourguet, Florange Site Integration Manager, during the ceremony.
