Safran's Silvercrest engine selected by Cessna to power its new Citation Hemisphere large-cabin business jet

Safran Aircraft Engine today announced its latest-generation Silvercrest® business jet engine has been selected by Cessna Aircraft Company to power the new large-cabin Citation Hemisphere business jet. The Hemisphere will offer a range of 4,500- nautical miles and is targeted to make its first flight in 2019.

The Silvercrest® business jet engine incorporates the latest advanced, field-proven technologies, to offer unrivaled performance in its category in terms of propulsion efficiency, reliability and environmental friendliness. These engine qualities empower operators of large and long-range business jets, with the best speed, range, field performance, and direct operating costs. The brand new Safran Aircraft Engines Silvercrest® offers 15% better fuel efficiency than any other powerplant in the 12,000+ thrust category.

Furthermore, the Silvercrest® integrates ForeVisionTM, an advanced health monitoring system to provide insight into the condition of the powerplant. Using advanced analytics, our recommendations allow operators to proactively manage maintenance actions ensuring the best availability of the turbofan engine.

The engine has demonstrated its excellent operational performance, through more than 6,000 hours of tests, including 600 in flight, and over 170 flights in all. Tests are proceeding according to schedule, leading to engine certification in the spring of 2018.
