Safran wins Grand Prize in 2017 "Films & Companies" festival

Paris, June 6, 2017

Safran has won the Grand Prize in the 2017 "Films & Companies" festival for its series of entertaining and educational films called SimplyFly! The corporate film festival took place in the French seaside town of La Baule from May 30 to June 1, 2017. For this third edition of the festival, some 200 films were in competition.

The films in the SimplyFly! series were directed by Olivier Héraud and produced by Timothée de Montvalon from the Capa Entreprises agency. They explain Safran’s projects and technologies in a humorous, slightly offbeat way.

These films introduce viewers to the sometimes mysterious world of aviation, and seek to answer some of the most frequently asked questions, such as: How do you make quieter airplanes? How is electrical power generated and used on aircraft? What are the benefits of using composite materials in engines? How is an aircraft engine certified?

The jury members said they were won over by the creativity of this series from a major manufacturer, as well as a daring directorial viewpoint and a judicious balance between humor and information.

“We are especially proud of this team effort, in conjunction with our technical experts, which will help further energize Safran’s image,” said Pascale Dubois, Safran Executive Vice President, Communications. “Several days after going online, the SimplyFly! series has already been a huge success both in-house and on social networks. On Facebook, for instance, the first three films in the series have already garnered 400,000 views, a record for our Group!”
