During MAKS-2017 air show, a Research Collaboration Agreement (CRA) between Safran, Smartec and the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) has been signed with the goal of developing a flexible multi-functional and precise tool for assessing of future solutions.

This new tool will be used in the development of aircraft of traditional and advanced designs. It will allow more accurate choice of parameters for preliminary assessment of the aircraft engine configuration and parameters.

Within the framework of this agreement, MAI will closely co-operate with Safran and Smartec.

David Queva, Smartec General Director said: “This research collaboration is clearly part of our strategy of strengthening our links with Russian institutes of whom MAI shows a strong expertise in the field of aircraft design. We are proud to make this bridge possible between Safran and MAI and to bring our technical and R&T project management expertise to this program.”

Vincent Garnier, Safran Tech Director: “We are delighted to launch this inaugural cooperation agreement with MAI, particularly concerning a topic that generates great interest in the aeronautics community. We are looking forward to working with MAI and their Research partners in Russia. We expect benefits on both sides, both scientific and technical.”
