Safran signs a maintenance contract for the emergency flotation system of the US Coast Guard HH-65 helicopter fleet.

HAI Heli-Expo - Anaheim, United-States. January 28 2020

The five-year agreement covers the maintenance of the flotation systems of all 98 HH-65 Dauphin helicopters used by the US Coast Guard during their various missions.

The Safran Aerosystems Services Americas repair center in Belmar, New Jersey will provide this service at the various coast guard sites as well as at their maintenance bases.

The emergency flotation systems are designed and manufactured by Safran Aerosystems in Cognac (France). They enable a helicopter in difficulty to ditch and remain stable afloat long enough to evacuate the passengers and the crew in the event of a forced ditching. The flotation system is struck in less than five seconds and is capable of ensuring the stability of the helicopter in rough seas (sea state 6 and over on the Douglas scale) limiting the risk of overturning and submersion.
