Safran partners the “Women and Science” chair at Paris Dauphine University

Paris, December 11, 2019

The Women and Science chair at Paris Dauphine University (PSL and its foundation) was created in 2019 in partnership with the Institut des Politiques Publiques, and with support from the L’Oréal Foundation, Generali France, La Poste, Talan and now Safran.

The aim of this chair is to foster international collaboration and original studies in order to analyze the decisive factors and impact of the weak presence of women in research and scientific careers, and to provide input for public discussions on these issues.

“Safran is now fully involved in a large-scale plan to favor gender equality in these fields, especially scientific research,” said Stéphane Dubois, Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Safran. “We are therefore supporting the Women and Science chair, which will help guide our own approach.”

Safran has long nurtured the diversity of its workforce, a policy that naturally enriches innovation due to the wide range of approaches involved. Women are of course part of this diversity, but too few take the science and technology courses needed for the engineering degrees that are heavily recruited by the aerospace industry. It is essential to undertake actions that will increase the percentage of women in these jobs. The percentage of women at Safran has continued to grow in recent years. In 2019, for example, 37% of new hires were women, who now account for 30% of all Safran employees.
