Safran is taking part in the International Helicopter Industry Exhibition HeliRussia, held in Moscow (Russian Federation) from May 19 to 21, 2016. Organized by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce, this convention brings together major industry players on a yearly basis. The 2016 event will host some 220 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors.
Safran Helicopter Engines and Safran Electronics & Defense will represent the Group at HeliRussia this year, showing several of their flagship products for the helicopter market.
- On the Safran Helicopter Engines side: The Ardiden 3G, which powers Russian Helicopters' Ka-62 and completed its first flight on April 28 this year; the Arrius 2, which powers the KA-226T made by the same manufacturer and the H135 by Airbus Helicopters.
- On the Safran Electronics & Defense side: The flight controls generator for new generation fly-by-wire helicopters, which incorporates the most advanced flight control laws to improve the precision and maneuverability of the aircraft. Also being presented is the new digital flight report service package, consisting of a connected tablet and secure application: "after biometric authentication, the pilot is able to instantly retrieve and send data, reducing the risk of error and offering time savings to operators" says Maxime Faribault, Director of Aircraft Manufacturer Sales at Safran Helicopter Engines.
Russia is an important market for the Group, with 190 Safran helicopter engines currently in service and "a further 250 planned in the years to come due to the growth in sales of the Ka-226T and entry into service of the Ka-62", says Maxime Faribault.
