Safran awarded $304.5 million IDIQ frame contract to deliver LTLM II Systems to the U.S. Army

Officials with the Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., have selected Optics 1 (Safran Electronics & Defense) to deliver a next-generation lightweight targeting system to help soldiers identify and locate targets.
The Optics 1 team announced that it has been awarded a $304.5 million 5-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for the production of the Laser Target Locator Module II (LTLM II) system.
The LTLM II systems will be produced in Bedford, New Hampshire, where Optics 1 is headquartered. The initial order is for $23 million with deliveries beginning this year.
The LTLM II is a lightweight, handheld system with day and night imagers, a laser rangefinder, digital compass, and a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver.
