Paris Air Forum spotlights four startups supported by Safran

Of the eight startups singled out for awards at the Paris Air Forum 2018, four are supported by Safran Corporate Ventures. At the ceremony, these early-stage companies, in which Safran’s venture capital arm has invested, were recognized by the major industry players and the Greater Paris region for their innovative edge and credibility in the aerospace sector.

Each year at the Paris Air Forum, top decisionmakers and experts from across the aviation, defense and space sectors gather to decipher the issues of today to better address the challenges of tomorrow. This year, the Innovation Village hosted 40 startups, all active in segments related to the theme of the 2018 forum “Connected aviation and smart territories”.

“We really believe in these four startups, and the spotlight given to them at the event has helped raise their profile with players across the sector,” says Hélène de Cointet, Co-Head of Safran Corporate Ventures. “It also shows how the support we provide is helping these companies develop and grow as an integral part of the broader aerospace industry.”

The four award-winning startups are:

Diota, which designs and delivers solutions for improving industrial processes by digitizing operator spaces, incorporating advanced technologies, such as augmented reality and automatic control, and creating digital continuity with industrial information systems.

KRONO-SAFE, which develops software, including a software workshop suite and real-time kernel, to support the development of critical embedded systems. The company serves the safety critical real-time systems market using new hardware platforms based on multicore processors. Its software is used to develop electronic systems in aerospace (and by extension space, defense and cybersecurity), transport (automotive, rail) and industry (automation, energy systems).

Safety Line, which is an innovative digital technology company specializing in big data and artificial intelligence applied to aviation. It offers smart solutions for optimising air operations, such as the use of flight data to reduce fuel burn, and helping airlines and airports manage operational and technical risks.

TURBOTECH, which is developing a unique regenerative-cycle turbine technology. The company has designed an ultralight, compact heat exchanger to recover the energy contained in a turbine’s exhaust gases, significantly reducing fuel consumption.
