LEAP-1A Engine Powered Airbus A320neo Fleet Exceeds 200 in China

Shanghai, China — April 7, 2021— The number of CFM International LEAP-1A engine powered Airbus A320neo operating in China has now surpassed 200 aircraft, with a total of 10 airlines flying the new engine option and aircraft configuration in the Greater China region. The LEAP-1A engine has accumulated 1.5 million flight hours since the first flight in China in June 2018.

Although the pandemic has had adverse impact on the global aviation industry, the LEAP-1A engine fleet continues to expand in China, which give us full confidence in our future in China." 

Using the most advanced technology both from GE and Safran Aircraft Engines, LEAP is a new generation engine developed by CFM. This engine brings high reliability, industry-leading utilization level, excellent fuel efficiency and low noise to operators and, also enables smooth operation even in the high plateau environment. Compared to its predecessor, LEAP has realized a 15 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and a 15 percent reduction in carbon emissions, and a significantly reduced noise footprint of the aircraft it powers.

With increasing numbers of LEAP-1A-powered A320neo aircraft to be delivered to China customers, the engine will help more airlines fly more frequently, farther and higher.
