Jet Airways and CFM celebrate 6 million CFM56-7B flight hour milestone

MUMBAI, India — 3 November 2016 — At a special ceremony here, Jet Airways and CFM International recently celebrated the achievement of six million total engine flight hours by the airline’s fleet of CFM56-7B engines.

Jet Airways began operation in May 1993 with four CFM56-3-powered Boeing 737s. Since then, the airline has grown to carry nearly 20 million passengers annually and is one of the most respected airlines in the world.  The Jet Airways fleet includes 76 Next-Generation 737-700/-800/-900 aircraft powered by CFM56-7B engines.

“We continue to be impressed by Jet Airways and what this airline has achieved and we are honored to celebrate this great milestone with them,” said Jean-Paul Ebanga, president and CEO of CFM International. “They have one of the highest utilization rates of any CFM56-7B operator and continue to maintain very high reliability ratings, including 99.95 percent departure reliability.   We look forward to launching the next new era in this very successful relationship with the introduction of the LEAP-1B engine beginning in 2018.”

In November 2015, the airline placed the single largest order in its history when it ordered 150 LEAP-1B engines to power 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
