Japan Airlines selects Safran wheels and brakes for its Airbus A350-900

Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected Safran Landing Systems wheels and carbon brakes for its Airbus A350-900 fleet. The 18 aircraft (and 5 options) are due for delivery starting 2019.
This new deal further establishes Safran Landing Systems as a leader in the wheels and brakes market. Besides its advantages in terms of weight and fuel efficiency, Safran Landing Systems A350-900 carbon brake features a coating that makes it perfectly oxidation-resistant. Its thermal capacity and design allow better energy absorption as well as faster cooldown, for shorter turnaround times (TAT) and increased fleet availability.
Mr. Atsushi Maeda, Executive Procurement Officer of Japan Airlines, commented: "The A350-900 aircraft will play an important role for JAL. We believe this agreement will provide us stable and safe operations at the highest level for our valued customers. Furthermore, it provides us an added advantage to optimize our maintenance costs, while enhancing the long-term partnership with Safran Landing Systems."
Jean-Paul Alary, CEO of Safran Landing Systems, added: "This new success establishes that our carbon brakes are the ideal solution in regards to the cost, efficiency and performance requirements for the Airbus A350. We are delighted that Japan Airlines chose to work with us, and this new deal testifies to their level of trust, as we already equip their Boeing 767 and 777 LR fleets. "
Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in carbon brakes, which are already used on more than 9,000 aircraft to date.
