XIESA, a Safran Landing Systems and China Eastern Airlines Joint Venture based in Xi’an, China, celebrated shipping its 100th set of Landing Gear at the start of December! This only two years after the first completion of an A320 Landing Gear in-house overhaul, in January 2022.

On Friday December the 8th a celebration event was held at XIESA. The company leader Mr. James Miller and shareholders Mr. François Bastin, Mr. Bruno Chiarelli and Mr. Eric Hamon representing Safran Landing Systems and Mr. SONG Shaokun representing China Eastern Airlines thanked the employees and key stakeholders for their support and outlined the bright future coming for this exciting company. A key milestone was reached for this important Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul base when the teams completed and shipped their 100th Landing Gear set this month. In only a few years time, the company’s growth has been quite remarkable with output doubling every year for the last three years Thanks to the world class facility and skilled workforce, it will continue to grow at pace for many years to come.

The company was founded at a signing ceremony at the Zhuhai airshow in 2016. Safran Landing Systems was to bring its extensive Landing Gear knowledge and expertise and as the Original Equipment (OE) manufacturer for the Airbus A320 and A321 was to be the first OE affiliated Landing Gear shop for this product in China.

The company was initially to concentrate on the Single Aisle market in China, specifically Airbus A320/A321 and Boeing 737 Landing Gear. A bespoke world-class facility, equipment and people were to be put in place to perform full Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) for these landing gear. Including the all processes required such as Machining, Plating, Painting, Non Destructive Testing, Hydraulic and Electrical repair capabilities, etc.

Within a couple of years of the signing ceremony the new factory was built near the international airport in Xi’an, and the equipment was installed. Then the work began to gain the local and international accreditation to work on these critical aviation parts. The accreditations were gained by 2021 and the volume really started ramping up with many new customers (aircraft operators) in China and beyond selecting XIESA to overhaul their landing gear.

With the care and quality that naturally comes with being associated to the Original Equipment manufacturer whilst at the same time offering an excellent value service, the number of new customers is growing rapidly. With those new customers comes volume and growth that at this moment in time seems limitless!

Well done XIESA!
