Women’s rights: an everyday focus at Safran

Human resources

At Safran, we work to promote women’s rights all year long. We know that diversity encourages creativity and innovation and contributes to our collective success. To mark March 8, International Women’s Day, here’s a closer look at our initiatives.

Where are we at?

In aerospace, women account for around 25% of employees (GIFAS study). At Safran, women make up around 29.7% as at late 2024, and 37.3% of new recruits, demonstrating a positive trend in favor of diversity. The gender equality index is also continuing to improve, reaching 92/100 this year.

Attracting, supporting, and retaining female talent remains a priority for the Group, and we are more determined than ever to succeed.

Encouraging female leadership

Around the world, women’s networks are being developed to encourage exchanges, mutual support, and the sharing of experiences. The Women@Safran network is growing in size and spreading globally. In North America, the first regional event in Mexico brought together female colleagues and managers to forge bonds, share local initiatives, and inspire future leaders.

Several other events are also contributing to this momentum. In Morocco, female employees of Safran Electrical & Power took part in the Her Day for Her masterclass, during which 10 inspiring women talked about their career paths and shared their expertise with participants.

Mentoring is another popular tool. At Safran Seats, for example, a dedicated program launched in 2023 to support women’s careers was expanded to men in 2024, promoting exchanges and creating opportunities for all.

To support female talent, Safran also offers trainings such as Talent Boost, which is designed to break the glass ceiling.

Raising awareness of—and countering—gender-based discrimination

In addition to its commitments, Safran is increasing its initiatives to boost awareness of and combat all types of discrimination.

To guarantee a respectful, inclusive working environment, all Safran employees can access a whistleblower service. This confidential tool can be used to report cases of discrimination and harassment.

We regularly organize awareness-raising measures on our sites. Recently, at Safran Power Units, a theater company gave a performance designed to raise over 500 employees’ awareness of sexist violence.

Initiatives to encourage women’s empowerment

Safran’s commitments extend beyond the company itself, including more general efforts to support women’s empowerment, a process designed to free women from men’s influence.

In the United States, the Safran Electrical & Power teams in Denton organized a charity fundraiser for female victims of violence alongside a domestic violence awareness campaign. In South Africa, Safran Electronics & Defense educates schoolchildren about women’s empowerment from an early age.

Another example comes from France, where Safran SA supports La Maison des Marraines, which helps vulnerable young women to access housing and regain their independence.
