Alkmaar, October 6, 2016 – Singapore Airlines Cargo selects Zodiac Aerospace for the supply of more than 2,000 Zodiac Herculight S AKE cargo containers. The containers, constructed with a combination of composite and aluminium panels, come in two highly customized configurations to target Singapore Airlines Cargo’s needs in both passenger and cargo operations.

Singapore Airlines Cargo evaluated the Herculight S containers comprehensively. Ground handling of unit load devices (ULDs) is often rough, and even the most resistant ULD will eventually be damaged. Hence one of Singapore Airlines Cargo’s key requirements is the sustainability of the lightweight ULD to remain functional in operations for many years. Herculight S AKE fits this requirement perfectly.

“We are honoured to be selected by Singapore Airlines Cargo” , says Bart van Berkel, VP Sales of Zodiac Cabin Equipment. “This truly is a positive quality and testament to the design philosophy we uphold for all of our products. We strive towards the lightest tare weight possible for our products, leading the market trend towards lightest weight with highest durability. At the same time, we strictly will not compromise the performance potential of our products. We look forward to a successful collaboration with Singapore Airlines Cargo for many years to come”.

The Herculight S range was launched in 2014, and is the world’s leading ULD series on the market today. The Herculight S ULDs have gathered consistent and increasing positive acceptance from major airlines globally. The Herculight S AKE’s tare weight starts from as low as 51KG with Endumax composite panels, and 65KG with full aluminium panels. A series of lightweight pallets rounds out the Herculight S ULD range, enabling Zodiac Aerospace to completely meet its customers’ needs.
