Safran’s industrial role in Kentucky is highlighted during Aviation/Aerospace Day

Safran Landing Systems' contributions to the state of Kentucky's industrial capabilities were highlighted during the Kentucky Aviation Association's second Aviation/Aerospace Day, held this week in the capital city, Frankfort.

The goal of the Aviation/Aerospace Day is to provide state legislators an opportunity to interact with Kentucky's aerospace suppliers, secondary- and university-level aviation educational providers, as well as key airports and service providers.

As one of the 77 aerospace facilities in the state of Kentucky, Safran Landing Systems used the event to detail the activity at its wheels and carbon brakes facility in Walton. With close to 300 employees, the facility performs carbon brake production and refurbishment for such North American carriers as Delta Air Lines, Air Canada and Spirit Airlines, with the company's products also used on military aircraft.

Speaking to event attendees in the Capitol building's rotunda, Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton outlined the importance of continued support for aviation in Kentucky.

This year’s event was marked by the issuance, by Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton, of the official Aerospace Day Proclamation as the last Thursday of February each year.
