Safran vendor requirements (SAFe) are evolving
Within the “SAFe” approach, Safran has consolidated all the common supplier requirements of the Group’s main companies into a single document. Regularly, SAFe requirements evolve to improve the resilience of the supply chain, a strategic issue in a context where our sector is facing major challenges. Let’s take a closer look at the latest developments.
Significant issues reflected in the SAFe requirements
Safran reaffirms that air safety is our absolute priority. The principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) now include this essential issue in new requirements, in order to improve the safety of products delivered to customers, by developing a preventive risk management culture throughout the entire supply chain.
The other changes integrated into the SAFe requirements are as follows:
- The deployment of the APQP approach (Advance Product Quality Planning) has been bolstered to achieve operational excellence and co-develop optimized, dependable products;
- CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) regulations are incorporated to ensure exemplary conduct in terms of ethics and human rights;
- Environmental and climate issues are also integrated, showing that Safran is involving its Supply Chain in its global low-carbon strategy;
- Stronger collaboration concerning operational performance to ensure customer satisfaction, for which Safran promotes adhesion to the Aero Excellence program and the completion of the “One Safran Baselines” (Safran load/capacity analysis tool);
- Safran also requests that its suppliers self-assess and achieve an acceptable level of cyber security (Bronze level, AirCyber “extended production”), to manage the increased risk of cyber-attacks.
A set of requirements and recommendations to eliminate risks
The SAFe approach enables suppliers to self-assess their performance and ensure they are in line with Safran’s requirements. Supplier Quality Managers (SQM) and Group purchasing teams support our suppliers for that.
SAFe is applicable right from the supplier selection phase because the aim is to secure the supplier’s commitment to respect the requirements prior to signing the contract, in order to achieve the appropriate level of compliance.
