Safran underscores its business aviation capabilities at NBAA 2017

Safran is promoting a selection of state-of-the-art products from across its businesses at this week’s National Business Aviation Association Annual Convention & Exhibition. Taking place October 10-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the NBAA gathering is the business aviation community’s premier event.
At Safran’s booth (#1715) attendees will see the company’s key role in equipping and supporting the business aviation sector. Featured at this year’s exhibit is Safran Aircraft Engine’s new-generation turbofan engine designed to power large-cabin and long-range business jets.
Safran’s commitment to supporting development of more electric aircraft will be demonstrated by the SPU300[BA] – its recently rebranded auxiliary power unit. This power source has been designed to meet the requirements of long-range, high-performance business jets.
Visitors also can inspect the landing gear designed for Bombardier’s Global 5000/6000 business jet. As a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of aircraft landing and braking systems, Safran supports more than 4,000 business jets in service.
Avionics and navigation systems
The company’s booth will showcase a wide range of avionics and navigation systems, including an auxiliary flight data acquisition and management unit, Cassiopée flight data management services, and the SkyNaute Attitude and Heading Reference System.
SkyNaute is a new-generation family of inertial navigation systems for all types of aircraft: mainline and regional jets, business aircraft, helicopters and drones. Designed to meet the growing demand for contained costs, SkyNaute is based on a disruptive technology: the hemispherical resonator gyro (HRG) enables Safran Electronics & Defense to offer a compact navigation unit with ultra-high reliability and low cost of ownership.
Designed primarily to meet the needs of the civil aviation market, SkyNaute offers an advantageous solution in relation to previous-generation inertial navigation systems. It draws on the success of the resonant sensor-based navigation systems developed by Safran Electronics & Defense, which have been deployed for the past 12 years on space, sea and land platforms.
In addition to the technologies on display at the 2017 NBAA exhibition, Safran provides nacelles, thrust reversers, wheels and brakes, flight controls and electrical power management systems that equip business aircraft around the world.
