Safran showcases its full range of rotorcraft solutions at Heli-Expo in Las Vegas
February 27, 2018
Safran's extensive product and service offerings for the rotorcraft sector – along with its solid U.S. customer base of airframe manufacturers and helicopter operators – are being spotlighted at this week's HAI Heli-Expo exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Included on Safran's exhibit stand (Booth #C4743) are a wide variety of propulsion, avionics, electrical power management and other rotorcraft system solutions offered for helicopters.
Safran’s newest engine, the Aneto which is designed for super-medium and heavy helicopters, is part of an augmented reality demonstration.
The Aneto engine is chosen for a high-speed demonstrator
The company made headlines on the opening day of the show announcing that Airbus has selected the Aneto engine to power its Racer (Rapid and Cost- Efficient Rotorcraft) high-speed demonstrator.
Other turbine powerplants at Heli-Expo are Safran Helicopter Engines' Arrano, Ardiden 3, and the Arriel 2 (from the popular engine family that equips Airbus' Ecureuil and H145 rotorcraft, along with Sikorsky's S-76C++).
Displayed this year as well is Safran’s e-APU60. Designed to meet the demands of new-generation, more-electric aircraft, the e-APU60 offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its category, along with reduced fuel consumption and high reliability. The e-APU60 has been selected for AgustaWestland's AW189 helicopter.
Safran's Heli-Expo exhibit also features a range of avionics products from Safran Electronics & Defense, including cockpit controls, navigation systems and flight data management systems. For the first time at Heli-Expo, the company is showcasing HELISAFE, an innovative real-time data analysis solution that provides flight information to helicopter aviation operators.
Safran Electrical & Power’s offering for helicopters is being exhibited at Heli-Expo – with a range of power generation and distribution systems.
Zodiac Aerospace’s Heli-Expo debut with Safran
Zodiac Aerospace, which joined Safran this month, is exhibiting at its own booth during Heli-Expo. The company's presence features a display of equipment, including evacuation systems (life raft, suit and life vest), cockpit and lighting systems, seats, a starter generator and a fuel tank. With the acquisition of Zodiac, Safran has become the world's third largest aerospace company (excluding aircraft manufacturers).
In addition to Safran's impressive hardware and system displays at the 2018 Heli-Expo, this industry event provides the company an opportunity to highlight its U.S. market presence. As a major supplier, Safran products are used on American-built helicopters from such leading manufacturers as Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky and Airbus.
Heli-Expo is the world's largest helicopter trade show and exposition, drawing more than 20,000 rotorcraft industry professionals from around the world.
