Safran’s pioneering innovations for sustainable aviation are highlighted at the Seattle European American Air Forum
Safran’s roadmap for a greener future was highlighted at the recent Seattle European-American Air Forum (SEAAF) organized by the French-American Chamber of Commerce – for which the company also was an event sponsor.
Francois Guerzeder, Safran’s Corporate Senior Vice-President for Boeing Programs, joined Ryan Faucett, Vice President of Environmental Sustainability at Boeing; along with Anna Yates, EHS Sustainability Director at Albany International; and Gregory Davis, President at Raisbeck Engineering, Inc. for a panel moderated by Vamsi Alla, Executive Director in Corporate Finance Advisory at J.P. Morgan.
During this panel, entitled: “Sustainable Aviation: Meaning and Business Impact of Net Zero Emissions on Aviation,” Guerzeder underscored how Safran is paving the way towards an increasingly sustainable future through the development of more fuel-efficient engines – citing the current RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) technology demonstration program as an example.
Additionally, Guerzeder spotlighted Safran’s efforts in aircraft electric and hybrid propulsion systems, underscoring the ENGINeUS™ electric motor, which is nearing certification by the European EASA airworthiness authority. He also pointed to ways in which Safran is supporting the deployment of sustainable fuels, along with implementing initiatives aimed at reducing emissions from all Safran operations around the world, and working with suppliers toward the global 2050 net zero target.
Gatherings such as SEAAF are key for bringing together the aerospace community in the state of Washington. Safran is a major contributor to Washington’s aerospace industry, with the presence of four of its businesses: Safran Cabin; Safran Electrical & Power; Safran Electronics & Defense; and Safran Landing Systems.
