Safran Power Units celebrates 10-year anniversary in California

Safran Power Units specializes in the design and manufacture of auxiliary power units (APUs), which are the starting systems for civil and military aircraft; as well as turbojet engines for missiles and target drones. The San Diego site builds, tests, and repairs APUs for business aircraft. Its 36 employees support the Bombardier Global 7500 and the Dassault Falcon 6X business jet programs.

The anniversary celebration’s speaker line-up included CEO Ghislaine Doukhan; John Pogu, the Vice President of Safran Power Units San Diego; and Sylvie Almerie, Managing Director of the French American Chamber of Commerce in Southern California. 

“This is truly a joyful moment as I reflect on our site’s 10-year journey,” said John Pogu. “I would like to thank our employees for their passion, commitment and dedication to the company. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with our customers and to support the entry into service of their business aircraft. As we look forward to the next 10 years, our commitment to providing reliable business jet APUs remains as strong as ever.”

In 2015, the facility completed its first APU and installed two test cells to support development and production activities. Since its creation, Safran Power Units San Diego has delivered more than 200 APUs, with no in-service removals.

Safran employs nearly 2,500 people in California through the presence of Safran Power Units, Safran Aerosystems Services, Safran Cabin, Safran Electronics & Defense, and Safran Passenger Innovations.
