The 6th China Civil Helicopter Operation and Development Forum took place on May 9th and 10th in Beijing. It is an annual event dedicated to helicopter operators, lessors, regulatory authorities, airframers and MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) providers. Around 200 attendees from 100 organizations were involved in the event, a great occasion to foster helicopter development in China.

During one day and a half, dozens of companies and institutions presented their visions on various helicopter related topics such as helicopter fleet figures, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), operation costs, leasing and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)…

This year, Safran had two of its companies represented at the 6th China Civil Helicopter Operation and Development Forum – Safran Helicopter Engines and Safran Electronics and Defense. Bernard Plaza, General Manager of Safran Helicopter Engines China, and Dominique Lallemand, Head of Sales & Marketing of Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics Division, jointly presented Safran as the leader in the helicopter world and focused on the solutions to improve engines helicopter operations.

Having established strong relationship with Chinese companies since more than 40 years, Safran Helicopter Engines equips 50% of the civil fleet in China and powers almost all the civil range of AVICOPTER’s helicopters. In January, the Arriel 2H engine, one of the most powerful version of the Arriel obtained its CAAC VTC (Civil Aviation Administration of China Validation of Type Certification).

As an expert in flight data for over 50 years, Safran Electronics and Defense offers its Cassiopée Data Management Solutions to major manufacturers and more than 300 airplane & helicopters operators in over 60 countries. In 2018, Cassiopée has analyzed more than 10,000 aircrafts and more than 30 million flight hours, making it by far the most used and most trusted flight data system worldwide. Until now, 80%+ of the Chinese Airlines are using Cassiopée as their exclusive solution.

Safran’s involvement in this event represents a key episode of our development plan of the Chinese market and we are now looking forward to the next China Helicopter Exposition in Tianjin (10th to 13th October).
