On April 6th, a Safran conference about inertial navigation was organized for the 4th year students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University-ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT).

The SPEIT students had the opportunity to attend a conference held by Olivier DUBROEUCQ (Safran VP – COMAC & AVIC Aircraft Programs) about “Inertial Navigation”. The conference took place at the Shanghai JiaoTong Univerity (SJTU) Minhang campus. More than 40 students from SPEIT attended the conference, showing a deep interest in the topic.

The conference was presented in two parts: “The History of the Inertial Navigation” & “The technology behind the inertial navigation systems”. The inertial navigation system is a complex structure that is able to determine the orientation, the speed and the position of a moving object without the need of external references. Safran is a global leader (n°1 in Europe) in inertial navigation.

After the conference, Safran visited one of the laboratories of the Institute of Aerospace Science and Technology located in the SJTU campus.

SJTU-ParisTech was built in 2012 from the strategic partnership between SJTU and leading French Grandes Ecoles (Ecole Polytechnique, Mines ParisTech, Telecom ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech, etc.). Safran, being part of SJTU-ParisTech founding members, is very pleased and devoted to contribute to the students' education.
