Safran helicopter solutions touch down in the “Lone Star State” for Heli-Expo 2017

Business

March 8, 2017

Safran’s extensive product and service offerings for the rotorcraft sector – along with its solid U.S. customer base of airframe manufacturers and helicopter operators – are the company’s focus at this week’s HAI Heli-Expo exhibition in Dallas, Texas.

Included on Safran’s exhibit stand (Booth #10542) is a wide variety of propulsion, avionics and other rotorcraft system solutions offered for helicopters.

Featured turbine powerplants at Heli-Expo are Safran Helicopter Engines’ Arrius 2R (equipping the new Bell 505 Jet Ranger X), the Arrano (utilized on Airbus’ H160) and the Arriel 2 (from the popular engine family that equips Airbus’ Ecureuil and H145 rotorcraft, along with Sikorsky’s S-76C++).

In recognition of the first delivery of Bell Helicopter’s Bell 505 Jet Ranger X, a scale model of the Arrius 2R was presented by Safran Helicopter Engines’ CEO Bruno Even to the customer – Scott Urschel, owner of Pylon Aviation.

Safran’s Heli-Expo exhibit also is displaying products from Safran Electronics & Defense that range from Cassiopée – a complete suite of flight services offering innovative, modular services for helicopter operators – to illuminated switches and cockpit controls, as well as the active side stick control unit.

The Safran Power Units business is present at Heli-Expo with the e-APU60. Designed to meet the demands of new-generation, more-electric aircraft, the e-APU60 offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its category, along with reduced fuel consumption and high reliability. The e-APU60 has been selected for AgustaWestland’s AW189 helicopter.

In addition to Safran’s impressive hardware and system displays at this year’s Heli-Expo, this industry event provides the company an opportunity to highlight its U.S. market presence.  As a major supplier, Safran products are used on American-built helicopters from such leading manufacturers as Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky and Airbus.

Helicopters equipped by Safran are actively flown by the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, national and state law enforcement agencies, along with emergency medical services operators, commercial offshore transportation companies, tourism operators and business/corporate flight departments.

Heli-Expo is the world's largest helicopter trade show and exposition, drawing more than 20,000 rotorcraft industry professionals from around the world. Its 2017 location in Dallas brings the annual gathering to Texas – where Safran is a key contributor to the Lone Star State’s aerospace industry.  With a 35-plus-year presence in Texas, Safran today has more than 1,700 direct employees and seven facilities within the state, representing Safran Electrical & Power, Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics USA, Safran Helicopter Engines, Safran Power Units, Safran USA Shared Services, CFAN and CFM Materials.
