The Safran Foundation for Music supports the Piano in Lyon Association

Corporate social responsibility

To fulfill its mission with young talented musicians at the beginning of their professional careers, the Safran Foundation for Music supports structures or institutions that enable them to perform on stage. It is in this way that the Foundation will support the Piano in Lyon Association for the fourth year in a row.

The Piano in Lyon Association organizes a musical program that is one of the major cultural music events in the Rhône-Alpes region. Each season offers recitals by renowned international concert performers and talented young soloists. It is also an opportunity for the association to support the beginning of young pianists' careers with recordings, the production and distribution of which are entrusted to various labels distributed throughout Europe, as well as in Asia and the United States.

Supporting young talents

For several years now, the Safran Foundation for Music has been assisting the Piano in Lyon Association to support young talents by financing part of their concerts and record production.

For the 2019-2020 season, which is its 15th year, 16 piano recitals are planned. As far as young talents go, two brilliant pianists whom the Foundation supported in 2014 and 2015 will perform on stage: Sélim Mazari and Alexandre Kantorow. The latter has just won the 1st Grand Prix of the International Tchaikowski Competition, a first for a French pianist!

The Foundation is also supporting the production of Jonathan Fournel’ first CD, a student of Michel Dalberto at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, with a program including Brahms, Haëndel and Paganini Variations. Distributed by the Mirare label, the album, scheduled for release in spring 2020, will be presented as part of the International Piano Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron in July-August 2020.
