Safran Engineering Services and Honeywell will work together to bring satellite communications solutions to more helicopter operators

Business

Safran Engineering Services has signed a services agreement with Honeywell to make Aspire 200, a satellite communications solutions, available on more helicopter airframes and for more operators around the world. Safran Engineering Services has already assisted Honeywell in obtaining both FAA and EASA supplemental type certificates (STC) for their satellite communications system on the AW139 program. This new agreement, FAA and EASA STC plans, will now include the following platforms: S-92, AS332, UH-60/S-70, S-76, B-412, B-429, AS365, Mi-8/17, NH-90 and B-525.

The Aspire 200 satellite communications system is the first high-speed wireless broadband solution for helicopters developed by Honeywell. Its High Data Rate software package can transmit more data faster than any other L-band system and provides an always-on high-speed data connection. To perform the Aspire 200 installation on various rotorcraft platforms, Safran Engineering Services will take care of design engineering, certification services and installation program management. The company will provide end-to-end service to obtain FAA, EASA and potentially other foreign authority certifications, including engineering and certification development, conformity rotorcraft identification, “touch labor” installation, and performance of all required ground and flight testing.

“I am very proud to extend our collaboration with Honeywell and make an excellent product available to more platforms. Safran Engineering Services is now a recognized player in the aftermarket segment with end to end capabilities. We are excited to be part of projects that   proactively bring solutions for fixed wing and rotorcraft that operators want in a timely manner”, commented Ricardo Varela, Safran Engineering Services Americas General Manager.
