Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics had a key presence at the 2019 Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) Convention & Trade Show, held March 25-27 in Palm Springs, California.

This annual event is the world’s largest gathering of general aviation avionics manufacturers, distributors and government-certified repair stations.

Safran's booth featured a full range of avionics solutions, including pilot and cockpit controls, navigation systems and flight data management systems.

Innovations for avionics

One of the highlights for Safran Electronics & Defense this year was the Cassiopée Helisafe helicopter data monitoring solution, which fully automates the management and collection of all data captured before, during and after flight.

The company also demonstrated the Cassiopée Digital Flight Report (DFR) – a mobile application for pilots and a web interface for the electronic technical logbook used by airworthiness and maintenance operators.

Also on display was Safran's Cockpit Voice & Flight Data Recorder (CVFR) which combines flight data and cockpit voice (pilot, co-pilot and ambient) recorders in a small and lightweight unit for helicopter applications.

Additionally, visitors to the Safran booth were able to learn about SkyNaute, Safran’s new-generation family of inertial navigation systems for all types of aircraft, which is based on a disruptive technology: the hemispherical resonator gyro (HRG).

It enables the company to offer a very competitive alternative to current solutions combining compactness, ultra-high reliability and lower cost of ownership with state-of-the-art inertial/hybrid performances.
