Safran companies in Texas recognized during Grand Prairie’s Annual Environmental Awards

Corporate

Two Texas-based Safran companies – Safran Helicopter Engines USA and Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics USA – received recognition during the Grand Prairie Annual Environmental Awards for their efforts to protect the environment. Both companies participated in the Clean Air Action Challenge organized by the city of Grand Prairie, which is a regional partner of Air North Texas (a public awareness campaign and partnership that seeks to improve air quality in North Texas).

Safran employees receive an award

The Challenge, which is designed to spur companies to take action by reducing air pollution, saw winners being acknowledged during an awards luncheon on October 21. The event was attended by the City Manager, members of the City Council, and Health Safety & Environment (HSE) representatives from local companies.

By participating in the Clean Air Challenge, companies commit to the following rules: encouraging employees to take the Clean Air Action Pledge; creating or adopting new creative clean air initiatives to encourage employee participation; and completing and submitting a Clean Air Action Challenge Application by Clean Air Action Day in August.

Safran Helicopter Engines USA was named the Challenge winner for 2021, as a result of the number of pledges made by employees and the carbon reduction initiatives being implemented at its Grand Prairie facility. At the awards luncheon, Safran Helicopter Engines USA was represented by Nick Correll, Manager – HSE & Site Security.

Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics was also recognized as a participant in the Challenge. Additionally, the company received the 2020-2021 Pretreatment 100% Compliance Award. This award was acknowledged the company’s compliance with Grand Prairie’s wastewater discharge permit effluent limits and reporting requirements, as well as storm water and cross-connection device requirements. Accepting the award were Joseph Martinez, Facilities Manager and Noemie Bonte, HSE Manager.

Also in attendance at the awards luncheon was Jeremy Bell, General Manager of Safran Landing Systems Wheel and Brake Repair and Services – which is another Grand Prairie-based company. Safran Landing Systems was one of two new local businesses invited to give an overview of their activities during the luncheon.
