On National Florida Day, Safran highlights its contributions to this state’s aviation and aerospace sector

In honor of National Florida Day – celebrated annually on January 25 – Safran is highlighting its presence in the Sunshine State, which is home to six of its subsidiaries. 

The Group is a key contributor to the state’s aviation and aerospace sector – one of the top industries that fuels Florida’s economy. Companies represented in the state include Safran Electrical & Power, Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Oil Systems, Safran Landing Systems, A-PRO (Aero-Precision Repair & Overhaul), and PTI (Propulsion Technologies International).

Safran Electrical & Power – a world leader in electrical wiring interconnection systems and power systems for civil and military aircraft – has been operating in the state since 1978. In 2017, the company moved into a larger, 125,000-square-foot facility at Sarasota to support expanded operations. The site’s activities include the manufacturing of switches, circuit breakers, and electrical contactors; along with MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) activities for aircraft electrical equipment – such as ram air turbines and air-driven generators.

In Miami, Safran Landing Systems supports its U.S. customers through a wheel and brake repair station in Miami – called Safran Landing Systems Wheel & Brake Services – as part of the Group’s global leadership in aircraft landing and braking systems.

A-PRO (Aero-Precision Repair & Overhaul) – established in 1989 and located in Deerfield Beach – is a joint venture between Safran Landing Systems and Dassault Falcon Jet Corp. The site carries out repair and overhaul of landing gear, hydraulic components, flight controls and accessory units for such aircraft and helicopter manufacturing customers as Piaggio, Sikorsky, and Embraer.

Located in Milton, Safran Electronics & Defense, Parachute USA, Corp. (a former Zodiac Aerospace company) is a recognized leader in parachute recovery systems, aerodynamic decelerators, aerial delivery systems, and auxiliary equipment.

Safran Oil Systems – a subsidiary of Safran AeroBoosters – is located in Fort Meyers, where it designs and manufactures fuel, waste, water, and lubrication system components for aerospace applications.

Miramar-based PTI (Propulsion Technologies International) is an equally-owned joint venture between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE Aviation. As the top provider of repair services for aircraft engine parts, PTI offers expertise and capabilities covering rotating parts (shafts and disks), low-pressure compressors (boosters), guide vanes and cases. The company’s repair and overhaul capabilities cover the CFM International CFM56 and GE CF6 turbofan engines (which are widely used on commercial jetliners), and Safran Helicopter Engines’ Arriel family of turboshaft engines (one of the most popular powerplants built for rotorcraft).
