With today’s National Day observance, Safran highlights its contributions to Airbus and the Flight Works education center in “sweet home Alabama.”

Alabama is an aviation and aerospace hub employing over 61,000 people. More than 300 aerospace companies have a presence in Alabama, and Safran is proud to be one of them – represented by Safran Nacelles in Mobile.

Safran Nacelles is a world leader for aircraft nacelles and an active player in after-market services, with over 23,000 products in service that log 140,000+ flight hours daily.

In 2017, the Group opened a jet engine nacelle integration facility in the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley to serve the nearby Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility. Safran’s integration site at the Aeroplex is responsible for assembling LEAP-1A engine nacelles and delivering the completed units to Airbus for installation on A320neo family jetliners.

Advancing STEM education in the Alabama

Supporting education to inspire future generations is a core value at Safran. The Group is a proud sponsor of the Flight Works Alabama education center, which opened in August 2020. Located in Mobile, this new aviation experience center’s displays incorporate aircraft equipment donated by Safran, including a landing gear and an electrical wiring board.
