#LoveMySafranJob: “Working towards something bigger”

Human resources

After 12 years working in the UK automotive industry, Błażej decided to return to his native Poland. Late 2022, in Sedziszow, he applied for the position of MRO Technician (maintenance, repair & overhaul) on the Safran Transmission Systems site. What fulfills his day-to-day life is working in a family atmosphere, performing manual work that requires rigor and responsibility. We caught up with him.

A career marked by the desire to discover and learn new things

After five years of training, Błażej left Poland for the UK, where he worked in the automotive industry in technical trades such as production, quality control, maintenance and even tooling design, for over ten years. “It was a hugely enriching professional journey, which allowed me to meet trade professionals from all backgrounds.” He continued to develop this same business in Poland for four years but sought to change his environment. “I needed to break out of the routine and be closer to my family and hometown, so it was the ideal time to change jobs.”

He applied for the opportunity to join the MRO team at Safran Transmission Systems, drawn by the demanding requirements of the aeronautics sector. When I applied, I wasn’t sure that I was up to it, because the sector is very demanding in terms of professional rigor. Aviation safety lies squarely on all our shoulders.”

A demanding and enriching environment

The role of MRO technical demands unrivaled technical precision and rigor. In contrast to his previous experience, where the focus was on speed to achieve the end result, here Błażej discovered the importance of processes and the meticulous application of each step. “Safety and process compliance have become imperatives in my daily work, as each part we reassemble will be fitted directly onto an aircraft. But what also gives it meaning is the sense of working towards something greater.”

In practice, his daily routine consists of three key steps

1/ Disassembly: when a transmission arrives, a close inspection is required to ensure it is not damaged. Then it is disassembled into parts both manually and using tools, as well as complex machines. Each part is meticulously labeled and tracked.

2/ Cleaning takes place in a special machine, after which the parts are dried. Ensuring the cleanliness of parts is primordial.

3/ Reassembly requires the same tools as for disassembly, but in the reverse order.

Receive precious support

Błażej enjoys the support he receives at Safran. “I am pleased to be well integrated into my new job. The first year, we attend three months of training throughout the year, on the Colombes site [France]. This allows us to learn how to master each step. I did three full disassembly and reassembly processes before taking my exam.”

His colleagues are also very helpful and available if needed.

"I’ve never had to ask for help, my colleagues have always offered it spontaneously. It’s enabled me to become independent and confident very quickly!”

Self-realization in a family work atmosphere

The MRO department where Błażej works is a small team of a dozen people, who all get along like a big family! We all share the same passion, which is music! We’ve been able to write some tracks and record music videos together! It’s really a great pleasure to see their faces every morning.

Perhaps it is for this reason that he sees himself in this team for a few years to come, with further training and new modules to be able to work on different systems.
