From intern to expert in nacelle architecture!

Human resources

Appointed as Safran Nacelles Expert in 2017, Vincent Peyron will soon celebrate his 20th anniversary within the company that has seen him flourish.

Portrait de Vincent de Peyron

With a lifelong fascination for mechanics and technology, Vincent studied engineering at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers in Angers. “When I was young, I was already trying to invent new things, mechanisms, to build... My grandfather worked in aeronautics at Sud Aviation, so maybe that influenced me!” he explains.

His first internship set him on the road to aeronautics: he joined Safran Aircraft Engines at Saint-Quentin, within engine maintenance. He then completed a Master’s degree in aeronautics at Cranfield University (UK). Following his graduation in 2004, he applied to a job at Safran Nacelles in Le Havre, and is immediately hired! After a career spanning almost 20 years and a wealth of experience, he now heads the Architecture Division within the Innovative Nacelle Architecture Department.

Some thirty patents to his credit

As an architect, Vincent’s primary mission is to establish the best technical compromises in order to create products that best meet his customers’ expectations. Working with both aircraft and engine manufacturers, he is required to master the complex worlds of these two players and provide the best solutions.

Vincent Peyron

Among his professional achievements, Vincent Peyron is particularly proud of the C919 project for the Chinese aircraft manufacturer COMAC, which defined ten years of his career. This project involved the design of an innovative nacelle, on which Vincent worked in various capacities, from project launch as head of the design office team, to commissioning the aircraft as architect for the “ETRAS” electrical actuation system. He was also responsible for several of the inventions used in this architecture.

To date, he has filed some thirty patents, either alone or in collaboration with colleagues. It’s always gratifying to know that our inventions are currently being used. »

A strong international dimension

One of the good things about aeronautics is that most projects are international. Over the course of his career, Vincent has had the opportunity to travel to China and the USA: “The traveling I’ve done as part of my job has allowed me to discover other cultures, other corporate organizations and other ways of working! This was a very valuable experience and allowed me to grow.” »

Although travel has nowadays become less frequent, notably due to collaborative applications such as Teams, he regularly communicates with people located throughout Europe: “Despite our different approaches to technology, we always gravitate towards the best solution. We share a single goal: to offer a product with the best possible performance!” »

Stepping out of his comfort zone

Driven by genuine curiosity and the desire to discover, Vincent has played an active role in his career development, always on the lookout for new positions. Each of his professional experiences served as an opportunity to step out of his comfort zone, to keep learning in order to acquire new knowledge and skills. Becoming a Nacelle Architect means understanding all the areas of expertise required for a high-performance nacelle – every experience is therefore beneficial!

Throughout his career, Vincent has always found moments of relaxation by the sea, and has been sailing since he was young. Whether on the water or at Safran, he never misses a beat, always alert to adapt to a constantly changing environment!

Safran Nacelles was the ideal company to build a custom career path that reflected my pace, earning me the title of technical expert today.” »
