#LoveMySafranJob: “Continuous improvement is my daily routine!”
Marie joined Safran Aero Boosters in Milmort (Belgium) following an experience-filled career that gradually awakened her passion for aeronautics. Her mantra is to always move forward and take on new challenges. From the very outset of her career, she adopted this mantra, constantly striving to improve her skills and ultimately achieve her goal of becoming a methods agent. We caught up with her.
“The aerospace sector had always seemed beyond my reach. Just goes to show, you have to dare!”
After her studies in chemistry, Marie applied for various positions as a laboratory assistant, before joining a company within the aerospace and armament sectors. She was immediately faced with a major challenge: “The whole laboratory had to be set up – it was a big challenge, and that’s what I enjoyed!” As such, she took on this ambitious project. “We created everything from A to Z, and the company became Nadcap,” a benchmark for audits in the aerospace industry, particularly for special and heat treatments.
While at Nadcap, Marie began to take an interest in Techspace Aero, now Safran Aero Boosters. Spurred on by her professional contacts, she decided to submit an unsolicited application, without any specific job in mind. “I secured the job after several interviews. I was very proud but also a bit intimidated – the aerospace sector had always seemed beyond my reach. Just goes to show, you have to dare!” "
Marie started out in the Special Processes Quality Department, where she worked for five years. “I really liked what I was doing. Given that I often worked with methods agents, I figured that this job would interest me!”
“What I like is that your time is split up between the office and the workshop!”
Working directly with the production and quality teams, the job of methods agent is highly versatile: “We solve quality issues, fine-tune processes, and are constantly looking for new solutions to ensure the smooth production of diffusers”. These parts will then be mounted in the low-pressure compressors.
In particular, Marie enjoys the appreciates the technical expertise required for this job. “I also oversee special treatments, working with both plasma treatments and baths, to improve mechanical properties and ensure the part's functionality.” In addition to the technical aspect, she likes to alternate regularly between being at the office and working in the field. “What I like is that your time is split up between the office and the workshop!” If on a given day I don’t feel like being behind my screen, I always have an in-field mission I can carry out.”
The work atmosphere is also a major asset in her day-to-day life. She is perfectly integrated and part of a very close-knit team. “Our work is also fun, and there’s a lot of solidarity between us.”
“I’ve learned a lot on the job thanks to the training courses offered by Safran”
Marie has taken a number of technical training courses, notably in plasma robotics. “I hadn’t completed any training as a methods agent, and even less in plasma treatment. I’ve learned a lot on the job thanks to the training courses offered by Safran”. For her, Safran is a company that encourages people to enhance their skills.
You shouldn’t hesitate to apply, even if you don’t perfectly match the job description. Safran allows you to train and quickly develop your technical skills.”
Continuous improvement is at the heart of the work of a methods agent, and it’s also what motivates Marie on a daily basis. I like to take on new challenges, both at work and in my personal life”. At present, Marie plans to specialize even further in plasma treatment, and to broaden her skills in this field that fascinates her.
