Kentucky's Lieutenant Governor tours Safran's Walton facility

Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton visited the Safran Landing Systems facility in Walton, Kentucky earlier this month. Accompanied by a team from Kentucky Aerospace Industry Consortium (KAIC), she was hosted by Philippe Garnier, the plant’s General Manager. 

​The May 19 visit was an opportunity to showcase the advanced manufacturing capabilities of the Walton site, which is dedicated to the production and refurbishment of carbon brake disks, as well as the production of wheels and brakes for civil and military customers. 

Platforms supported by this facility include Boeing's 737, 777 and 787, the Airbus A320 family, as well as C-17 and KC-135 military aircraft. In addition to touring the site, Lt. Governor Hampton was briefed on Safran Landing Systems’ commitment to bringing quality jobs and technologies to the state of Kentucky.

Safran is a key contributor to Kentucky’s booming aerospace sector, having expanded the Walton facility five times since it opened in 1999. Valued at more than $100 million, the latest enlargement will enable the facility to meet the market's growing demand for wheels and carbon brakes. Safran Landing Systems employees more than 300 people in Walton.
