Sunday May 5, 2024 - Miami
After 1 hour, 30 minutes and 49.876 seconds around a track with plenty of twists and turns, Lando Norris won his very first Formula 1 victory at the wheel of a McLaren boasting an optimized weight to power ratio.
The British driver beat the favorites Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), while benefiting from the performance and the reliability of the Safran carbon brakes on his car. Indeed, this Miami Grand Prix was the opportunity for our teams to demonstrate the benefit provide by our materials coupled with a new brake design, offering better performance when the strain on brakes is especially intense. A development that is paying off and thrilling drivers!
This 450th win is symbolic for our teams for more than one reason, as 40 years ago, Safran secured its very first Formula 1 victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Alain Prost at the wheel of a McLaren car!
Celebrating the victories of our customers is always a huge moment of pride for our teams! As a top-tier aircraft equipment manufacturer, our know-how, our processes, and our industrial resources are without doubt an asset that makes us stand out. Nonetheless, the edge that makes the difference in terms of the performance and reliability of our brakes reflects the passion our teams bring to their job, to this sport, and to the pleasure they feel in continuously pushing back technical and technological limits!
