February 29, 2016: LEAP Day!

Business

2016 is a leap year, so the calendar includes February 29th. This year mainly marks a major leap forward for CFM International, with the entry into service of the LEAP. This new turbofan engine has already been selected to power the new-generation single-aisle commercial jets being introduced by the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers: LEAP-1A for the Airbus A320neo, LEAP-1B for the Boeing 737 MAX, and LEAP-1C for the Comac C919.
Having recorded more than 10,000 orders to date, the LEAP is already the best-selling engine while under development in the history of aviation. A total of 85 airlines have already chosen CFM’s successor to its best-selling CFM56.
