The Falcon 8X business jet enters service with nacelle systems from Safran Nacelles

The world's fleet of Safan Nacelles-equipped business jets was expanded this month with the service entry of Dassault Aviation’s new ultra-long range flagship aircraft – the tri-jet Falcon 8X.

Receiving the first-delivered Falcon 8X was Amjet Executive, an Athens, Greece-based company that offers aircraft fleet management, charter and sales.

For this latest tri-jet aircraft member of Dassault Aviation’s business jet family, Safran Nacelles manufactures the thrust reverser for the central engine, along with the powerplant's fan cowl and an inlet coupling ring in the S-shaped air duct that brings airflow from the above-fuselage inlet to the rear-mounted engine.

Safran Nacelles also produces the fixed exhaust section (known as the inert afterbody) for the side-fuselage-mounted left and right engines. The air inlets and fan cowls on the nacelles of the two side-mounted powerplants are the responsibility of Italy's Alenia-Macchi as part of a Safran Nacelles/Alenia-Macchi joint venture.

Integration of the various nacelle components for the Falcon 8X – including the podding, engine build-up (EBU) and painting – is performed at Safran Nacelles’ Colomiers, France facility, located adjacent to Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.

The Falcon 8X is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D engines, which are enhanced, higher-thrust versions of the PW307A turbofans on Dassault Aviation’s shorter-fuselage Falcon 7X business jet – for which Safran Nacelles also supplies nacelle components.
